Great furniture is always worth investing in. The owner of these chairs had a vision of how she wanted to update these pieces.
The first step was to remove the old color, which on a chair like this isn’t easy. There’s a lot of work that goes into stripping the previous color without damaging the chair itself. After stripping was complete, a new custom color and sheen were applied and finally the gorgeous new upholstery was added.
Our craftsmen impress us on a daily basis, they know how to do the job the right way.
These chairs are back at home hopefully brightening up their surroundings just in time for spring and summer.

This Paillard New York cylinder music box is prett

This Paillard New York cylinder music box is pretty incredible.
Known for the impeccable tonal quality, these music boxes were designed by a Swiss company in the 1800s. This one was crafted in New York by Paillard.
The lid is adorned with decorative mother of pearl inlays while the exterior is a combination of burl and walnut woods.
The inside cylinder plays eight separate songs. The music is played when the tiny “nubs” on the cylinder interact with the slender “keys” that run parallel to the cylinder.
A musical and engineering marvel, this piece is in our shop for touchup and cleaning.

This unassuming stool has a pretty cool story. In

This unassuming stool has a pretty cool story. In 1937 this stool was one of many used by guests who attended the coronation of King George VI. Afterwards guests were permitted to purchase the stools. This one belonged to a family member of one of our customers who attended the coronation.
Handmade of white oak, the stool is still upholstered in the original velvet and gimp. Our customer brought it to us because it had gotten a little wobbly over the past 89 years. Our craftsman repaired the loose joints using the same time-honored techniques used by the original craftsman in the 1930s.
The first photo is of the stool. The second photo shows the coronation stamp. The third photo is of the maker’s stamp.
